Michael Hill began business after spending 20 years working in his uncle's jewellery store in 1979. His approach was to focus on jewellery and watches, simple window displays and more friendly store design. The marketing logo and selling skills were fundamental to the style of retailing and therefore important for staff recruitment and training.
